I decided to join this science teacher learning community because I thought it would be inspiring and motivating. I greatly enjoy sharing ideas and methodology with other educators. I gain great insight and ideas by listening to others' perspectives and creative ways to enhance learning for the students. Additionally, I have been somewhat disillusioned by the lack of active learning in the science units as they are written. They tend to be highly text driven with students reading about and not doing science. The activities include discussions and observations but are lacking in questioning and inquiring. I am hoping to see what others have done to tweak and better the units.
The science coherent content storyline weaves the content, theory, inquiry, practice, and questioning into the engaged and active community. I am hoping to be inspired and contribute to the conversation.
